Overall meaning : Allah instructs His Prophet, Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, not to suppose that his companions who were killed fighting in Allah’s cause at the Battle of Uhud, numerous as they are, are dead and do not feel anything. No indeed! They live a special life in the presence of their Lord, having been brought near to Him, delighting themselves in the abundance of His provision in the abode of eternal honour and bliss He has prepared for them; extremely pleased with the great bliss He has bestowed upon them; rejoicing that their brothers, whom they have left behind fighting in Allah’s cause, will join them once they are martyred without having anything whatsoever to fear in the hereafter, nor will they grieve for whatever they leave behind in the life of the world; and also rejoicing in the immense grace and bounty Allah has bestowed upon them and in the promise that Allah never denies the faithful their reward.
