Overall meaning : Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, enjoins His Prophet, Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, not to be deceived by the material comforts the unbelievers possess, or by their journeying through the land for trade and material gains and their occasional instances of power and ascendancy. All this is but a little and transient enjoyment, He assures him, then their destination will be Hell—an evil resting place!
As for those who do what their Lord commands and avoid what He forbids, theirs will be gardens beneath which rivers flow, in which they will abide forever: permanent homes Allah has prepared for them and a gracious welcome from Him, and what is in store with Allah is surely far better than all the worldly enjoyments for those who obey their Lord and do righteous deeds
The Almighty also states that there are yet some among the People of the Book who believe in Allah and declare His Oneness, and also believe what has been revealed to Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the scriptures Allah has revealed to them. They humble themselves before Allah, do not pervert what is in their scriptures, nor hide the truth in them, nor exchange the truth in them with paltry and transitory worldly gains. These will surely be richly rewarded by Allah. Swift indeed is Allah’s reckoning.
Allah then exhorts His believing servants to persevere in patience, continue to show greater patience than the enemies of their religion until they triumph over them, and secure their frontiers by stationing themselves at places through which the enemy may cross the border, prevent their enemies from achieving their goal and fear Him so that they may attain what they long for and save themselves from what they dread.
