Overall meaning : Almighty Allah establishes evidence against the Christians who worship Jesus, peace be upon him, on the pretext that he had no father. He likens His creation of Jesus, whom He created without a father, to His creation of Adam whom He created from dust and without a father or mother! He only said to him, ‘Be,’ and he was! The miraculous birth of Jesus is truly amazing, but it cannot be more amazing than the creation of Adam.
Allah then reassures His Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, of the truth He has revealed to him, asserting that the information He has imparted to him regarding Jesus is the absolute truth from his Lord, and so he should not be among the doubters. He instructs him to invite to a mutual prayer those who still want to dispute with him concerning Jesus, now that he has gained proper knowledge and received a conclusive clarification regarding this issue. ‘Come,’ He exhorts him to tell them, ‘let us gather our sons and your sons, our women and your women, and ourselves and yourselves; and then let us pray earnestly and invoke the curse of Allah upon those of us who are lying.’
He further explains that what He has told him regarding Jesus is the whole truth of the matter, that those who state otherwise are plainly wrong, that anything that opposes the truth is nothing but falsehood and that no one is truly deserving of worship except Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. If, however, they turn away from the truth that He has imparted to him and follow falsehood, then they are evildoers who only want to spread corruption. He is fully aware of them, and He will punish them for their wrongdoing.
