Overall meaning : Allah forbids the faithful from taking usury, doubling their wealth many times over, as they used to do before the advent of Islam and commands them to fear Him and be mindful of Him in order to attain success. He also admonishes them to guard themselves against the Fire which has been prepared for the unbelievers by doing what will serve to protects them from it, and to obey Him and His Messenger, by doing what He commands and avoiding what He forbids, so that they will be shown mercy in this world and the world to come.
