Overall meaning : Allah Almighty says: Korah went forth before his people from among the Children of Israel in all his pomp and finery. Those who desired the worldly life due to their weak faith said upon perceiving his luxury and splendour, ‘If only we had the same as Korah has been given. What immense good worldly fortune he has!’ Those who were endowed with knowledge said to them, ‘Woe betide you! The bliss that Allah has in store in the hereafter for those who believe and do righteous deeds is far better than all Korah’s riches, but only the patient who steadfastly obey Allah’s commands will attain it!’
Then We caused the earth to swallow him up, together with his dwelling, so that he found none to protect him against Allah’s punishment help him; nor was he able to help himself. Those who, only the day before, wished they had what Korah had been given were now saying, ‘Ah! It is indeed Allah who gives abundantly or sparingly to whomever He wills of His servants. Had Allah not been gracious to us, we could have also behaved arrogantly and shown ingratitude to Allah and we would have been swallowed up as well. Ah! The unbelievers will never succeed.’
That blissful abode—Paradise—We will assign it to those who do not seek to behave arrogantly in the land nor spread corruption in it through acts of disobedience; and the ultimate, commendable outcome in this world and the hereafter will be only for those who what Allah commands and avoid what He forbids. Those who come on the Day of Resurrection with a good deed—true faith and righteous deeds—will have a great reward with God, but those who come on the Day of Resurrection with an evil deed—unbelief and acts of disobedience-- will only be repaid for what they have done, and they will not be wronged by being punished for misdeeds they have not done.
