Overall meaning : The Almighty says: One of the two women said, ‘Hire this man, father, to graze and water our sheep. A man who is strong and trustworthy is the best that you can hire.’ The father said to Moses, ‘I wish to marry one of these two daughters of mine to you on condition that you tend my sheep for me for eight years. If you complete ten years, that will be an act of grace on your part. I do not want you to do something beyond your capacity; you will find me, Allah willing, a fair and agreeable man who fulfils his promises.’
Moses said, ‘That is a deal between us. Whether I stay eight or ten years, this will be a matter of my own choice. No injustice should be done to me by demanding of me to stay in your service at the end of any of these two terms. Allah is witness to what we say.’
