Overall meaning : Allah Almighty mentions some manifestations of His power and reminds His servants of some of the countless blessings that He has bestowed upon them: Have you not seen, Muhammad, how your Lord spreads and stretches the shadow on the ground from the time after the breaking of dawn until the rising of the sun? Had He wished, He could indeed have made the shadow perpetually still the sun; but then We make the sun after its rising its guide, a sign of the shadow, and then We contract it gradually.
It is Allah who has ordained the night to cover you, people, with its darkness as a garment, and the night to interrupt your activity so you can rest; and He has ordained the day so you can disperse through the land to earn your livelihoods.
And it is He who sends forth the winds to give people the good news of the coming of rain, which is part of His mercy towards them, and He sends down pure rainwater from the sky to revive with it dead, barren lands and to provide drink for the innumerable animals and humans that We have created.
We alone have distributed rainwater among people so that they may reflect and pay heed, but most of them persist in their unbelief and ingratitude. Had We pleased, We could have sent a messenger to every community to warn them of Our punishment and to call them to Us. We haven’t done so, but We have sent you, Muhammad, a messenger to all mankind. Therefore, do not obey the unbelievers, Muhammad, by yielding to their requests and demands, such as worshipping their false gods and forsake part of the message with which you have been sent; and strive mightily against them with this Qur’an.
And it is Allah who has sent the two bodies of water rolling—one fresh and palatable, the other salty and bitter—and He has, by His power, placed between them a barrier that separates them and prevents them from mixing with each other.
And it is He who creates human beings from sperm, then He gives them relations by blood and marriage. You Lord is ever Powerful over all things.
