Overall meaning : Allah. Exalted and Sublime be He, describes the condition of the idolaters and their false gods on the Day of Resurrection, saying: Mention to the people, Muhammad, the Day of Resurrection, when Allah will gather together the idolaters and the deities they worshiped besides Him in the life of the world and He will ask these alleged deities, ‘Was it you who misled these servants of Mine, or did they stray from the path of truth of their own accord?’ They will say, ‘Glory be to You! It is not proper for us to worship anyone or anything besides or instead of You. But, Lord, You allowed them and their forefathers to enjoy Your favours and the pleasures and comforts of life, so much so that they abandoned your revelation, in which You command them to worship You alone and not ascribe any partners to You, and thus brought destruction upon themselves.’

Allah Almighty will disapprovingly say to these unbelievers: Your gods have denied your false claims, and so you have now become deserving of punishment. You can neither avert the punishment nor help yourselves or receive any help whatsoever from anyone.’ Those of you who disbelieve in Allah We will make suffer a terrible punishment.
