Overall meaning : Almighty Allah points out the idolaters’ denial of the resurrection and the punishment He has prepared for them, saying: They deny the resurrection on Judgement Day, and so we have prepared a blazing fire for them. When it sees them from afar, they will hear the bellowing sound of its flames and its roaring, almost bursting with rage at them. And when they are cast into a narrow place in it, shackled together in chains, they will pray for death to be spared the punishment. Its keepers will say to them, ‘Do not call today for one death, but call for many deaths; for your prayer will never benefit you.’
The Almighty then instructs His Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to make clear to them what He has prepared for the pious: Say, Muhammad, to these unbelievers, ‘Is that punishment better or the Garden of eternal bliss which Allah has promised the pious who do what He commands and avoid what He forbids?! It will be their reward and their ultimate destination on the Day of Judgement. They will have in it whatever they desire, and they will dwell in it for all eternity. That is a promise that your Lord has taken upon Himself to fulfil.’
