Overall meaning : The Almighty says: The Messenger complains in the world, saying: My Lord, the unbelievers among my people have forsaken this Qur’an and turned away from it. They neither believe in it nor follow its teachings.’
Then He gives solace to His Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saying: Just as We have made enemies for you from among your idolatrous people, Muhammad, so, too, We have made enemies for every prophet from among their unbelieving, idolatrous people. Be patient, then, as they were; your Lord is sufficient for you as a guide and a helper against your enemies.
The Almighty further points out another specious argument of the idolaters: The unbelievers say, ‘Why has Allah not sent the Qur’an down to you, Muhammad, all at once—in one single revelation?’ He refutes it, saying: We have sent it down to you, Muhammad, in this manner to strengthen your heart with it and boost your resolve. We have revealed it piecemeal, one part at a time, and We have clearly explained it. And no example do these idolaters bring you, among which is the foolish suggestions they make in an attempt to raise doubts about your prophethood, but We reveal to you the truth in answer to refute their arguments with far better than what they bring in terms of clarity, eloquence and details.
Allah Almighty then shows the terrible consequences they will suffer on the Day of Judgement, saying: Those who will be gathered together and then dragged on their faces to Hell will be in the worst condition and place in Hell, and are now the furthest astray of all people from the path of truth.
