Overall meaning : Mankind, if you are in doubt about Allah’s power to resurrect the dead, remember that We created your father, Adam, from dust, then We created you, through his descendants, from a drop of sperm, which is then transformed, by Our power, into a clot of blood clinging to the womb wall, which then turns into a chewed-like embryonic lump of flesh (foetus), either fully developed (which remains in the womb until its time of birth) or partly developed (which is then miscarried early in the pregnancy), to show you Our perfect power. And We cause whatever foetuses We please to stay in the wombs until their appointed time of delivery. Then We bring you forth from your mothers’ wombs as infants, so that you may grow up and reach your full physical and mental maturity. Some of you die before then, while others live on to an age so abject that what they once knew is clean forgotten!
And you see the earth dead and barren; then when We send down water on it, it stirs and swells and brings forth every kind of luxuriant plant—pleasing to the beholder. These are some of the signs of Allah’s power, so that you may know that Allah is the Truth, who alone is worthy of worship, that He can bring the dead back to life and that He has power over all things; and so that you may believe that the Day of Judgement is certain to come beyond any doubt and that Allah will resurrect the dead from their graves to reward them according to their deeds.
