Overall meaning : Glorified and Infinitely Exalted is Allah Almighty above all defects and imperfections! Extol, then, people, Allah’s glory in the evening and in the morning. To Him is due all praise in the heavens and the earth; celebrate His glory also in the afternoon and at midday. He brings forth by His power the living from the dead (as in the case of a plant that is produced from a seed) and brings forth the dead from the living (as in the case of a seed from which a plant is produced), and gives life to the earth with water after it has been lifeless; and in like manner will you all be brought forth from your graves.
Among the signs that testify to Allah’s perfect attributes (such as His oneness and power) is that He initially created you from dust (that is, when He created your father Adam from it) and, behold, you become living human beings, spread over the face of the earth. Among the signs that bear witness to His perfect attributes is that He has created spouses for you of your own kind so that you may find comfort and tranquillity in them; and He has placed mutual affection and compassion between you. Surely there are signs in this of Allah’s power and wisdom for people who reflect.
And among His signs are the creation of the heavens and the earth from nothing and the diversity of your tongues and colours even though you have all sprung from your common father—Adam. And of His signs is your sleep by night and by day for rest as well as your seeking your livelihoods out of His bounty in both. Surely there are signs in this for people who listen for purposes of reflection.
