Overall meaning : The Almighty provides some evidence that the resurrection is true, and that nothing can possibly frustrate His will: Have these idolaters who deny life after death not seen how Allah originates creation, then restores it after its death and decay? Surely that is easy enough for Allah.
Then He directs His Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to call on his people to contemplate Allah’s work and signs: say to them, Muhammad, ‘Travel through the earth, and see how Allah brought creation out of nothing, then He will produce it anew after it has perished. Allah has power over all things. He punishes whomever He wills and shows mercy to whomever He pleases, and to Him alone will you all be returned on the Day of Resurrection. You will not escape His punishment if you disobey Him, whether you are on earth or in the heavens, and you have none to protect you from Allah’s punishment and none to give you support.
Next, He mentions the fate of the unbelievers, saying: Those who deny Allah’s signs testifying to His oneness and power and do not believe in the resurrection have despaired of My mercy, and they will suffer a painful punishment.
