Overall meaning : Say, Muhammad, to your idolatrous people, ‘Now that clear evidence of the truth has come to me from my Lord, I am forbidden to worship and call upon those idols you worship besides Allah, and I am commanded to fully submit to the Lord of all the worlds and obey His commands.’
It is Allah who created your father, Adam, from dust; then He creates you from a drop of semen, then from a clot of blood clinging to the womb wall then, after going through a number of major development stages, He brings you forth as infants. Then He lets you attain your age of full strength then decline into old age—though some of you die earlier—and you reach your appointed term when you die at the specified time he has fixed, so that you may reflect on such signs of Allah’s power and realise that He can bring you back to life just as He has brought you forth through these stages when you were absolutely nothing. It is He who gives life and causes death; and when He decreed a thing, He only says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.
