Overall meaning : Your Lord says, ‘Call on Me, people: I will answer your prayer. Those who are too proud to call on Me will enter Hell in disgrace.’
It is Allah who has made for you, mankind, the night in which to rest from the worldly toil and labour of the day, and has made the day bright so you can go about your business and earn your livelihoods. Allah is very bountiful to people, but most people do not give thanks!
Such is Allah, your Lord, the Creator of all things. There is no god worthy of worship but Him. How, then, are you turned away from believing in Him? Thus are turned away those who, out of sheer arrogance, deny Allah’s signs bearing witness to His oneness and power.
It is Allah who has made the earth ready for you to settle it and the sky a canopy. He has shaped you in the best forms and provided you with good and wholesome things. Such is Allah, your Lord. Blessed be Allah, Lord of all the worlds.
He is the Ever-Living; there is no god worthy of worship but Him. Call on Him, then, sincerely devoting your worship to Him alone. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.
