Overall meaning : Allah, Exalted be He, commands His Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to set forth to the conceited idolaters among his people the parable of two men—a believer who is grateful to Allah for His blessings upon him, and an unbeliever who denies Allah’s blessings: Strike out for them the parable of two men, one a believer, the other an unbeliever, so that they may consider their case and pay heed. To the unbeliever We had given two vineyards, which We surrounded with palm trees, and We placed fields of various crops between them. Each of the vineyards yielded its most abundant produce and never fell short of a full crop, and We caused a river to gush forth amidst them for ease of irrigation. Their owner had fruit in abundance from them, so he boastfully said to his believing companion, as he conversed with him, ‘I have more wealth than you and more people under me.’
