Overall meaning : Allah, Glorified and Exalted, be He, says, comforting and strengthening the faith of His Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: We have made whatever is on earth, of animals, plants and inanimate objects, as an adornment for it to test people as to which of them perform the best deeds (that is, those deeds that conform to Islamic injunctions and are done for Allah’s sake alone); and We will surely reduce all that adornment that is on earth at the end of this world to barren dust, leaving no vegetation, water or a trace of life. Will they, then, work for the everlasting life and not be deceived by this transitory, fleeting one?
