Overall meaning : Allah Almighty asserts that Abraham, peace be upon him, was a true model of virtue, sincerely obedient and devoted to Allah, a man of pure faith who strictly adhered to absolute monotheism and was not of those who associate partners with Allah. He was grateful to Allah for His favours, and Allah had chosen him to convey His message, conferred special love and support on him and guided him to the Straight path—Islam. He also bestowed on him good things in this world (such as righteous offspring and the good repute He had granted him), and in the world to come he will assuredly be among the righteous.
Then We have revealed to you, Muhammad, saying, ‘Follow the faith of Abraham, strictly adhering to monotheism. Abraham did not follow the religion of those who ascribe partners to Allah and worship them besides Him.’
