Overall meaning : Allah Almighty says: It is Allah who sends rain for you from the clouds, from which He produces water for you to drink. With it He produces plants on which you pasture your grazing animals, and brings forth for you various crops, date palms, grapes and fruits of every kind. Surely in this there is a clear sign for people who reflect on Allah’s creation, realise His power and unity and take heed.
And He has subjected to your service the night for you to rest, the day for you to earn your livelihoods and the sun and the moon so that you may know the number of years and calculate the days and months, among many other benefits. The stars also serve you by His command to be guided by them in the midst of the deep darkness of the land and the sea. Surely in this there are clear signs for people who understand Allah’s signs attesting to His absolute power. He has also subjected to your service whatever animals and plants, among other things, of varying colours and benefits, which He has scattered on the face of the earth for you. Surely in this there is a clear sign for those who remember Allah’s signs and blessings and give thanks.
And it is He who has subjected the sea to your service, so that you may eat fresh seafood from it and bring forth out of it ornaments, such as pearls, for you to wear. You see the ships ploughing their course through it so that you may seek His bounty and may render thanks and worship Him alone. He has placed into the earth firm mountains to hold it in place and prevent it from shaking with you, as well as rivers to drink from them, both you and your animals, and to use them to irrigate your crops, and pathways so you may find the way to your destination. He has also made for you landmarks on the earth, such as mountains, to guide you during the day, just as he has made the stars to guide you at night
Is He, then, who has created such things like one who cannot create anything at all? Will you, then, not reflect on Allah’s blessings on you and worship him alone?! If you tried to number Allah’s blessings, you could never count them due to their immense multiplicity and diversity. Allah is All-Forgiving, All-Merciful to you.
