Overall meaning : The Almighty says: Say, Messenger, to the idolaters who demand miraculous signs of you: Look at and reflect on whatever signs of Allah there are in the heavens and the earth that all attest to His absolute unity and oneness, for they will surely serve the purpose instead of the miracles you demand. But neither miracles nor signs portending His punishment will ever avail those who will not believe because of their stubbornness and outright rejection of the truth. What are they waiting for but the same fate as that of the unbelieving nations before them? Say to them, Messenger, 'Wait, then, for Allah’s punishment to descend upon you. I am waiting with you for it. Then We save Our messengers and those who believe. Just as We saved those messengers and those who believed them, We too will, by Our mercy and grace, save you, Messenger, and those who believe you.
