Overall meaning : The Almighty sets forth a parable of the fleeting nature of the present life and its adornment, stating that it is like rain which He sends down from the sky, which then mingles with the plants of the earth to provide food for both people and animals. Then, when the earth is at its loveliest and takes on its finest appearance and is beautifully adorned with the various types of plants, grains, fruits and flowers of numerous colours and shapes, and its owners feel sure they have power over it and are able to harvest it and to reap its fruits, Allah’s judgement comes to it suddenly, by night or day, and He lays it waste as though its plants had never blossomed before. Just as Allah strikes out this parable to show you the true nature of life, so too He clearly explains His signs in similar detail for people who reflect and take heed so that they may not be deceived by this transitory life.
The Almighty further states that He invites His servants to His Paradise—the Adobe of Peace—which is free from all defects and anything that disturbs happiness, and that He guides and helps whomever He wills of His servants to follow the straight path, which is Islam that leads to Paradise.
