Overall meaning : The Almighty states that among the hypocrites is a group who malign the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saying, ‘He lends an ear to everything that is said to him and believes it.’ He then instructs him to say to them that he listens for their own good, believes in Allah Almighty alone and believes what the believers tell him but not the hypocrites and the unbelievers. Furthermore, he is a mercy to the sincere believers among them, but those who malign the Allah’s Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, will suffer an agonizing punishment.
The Almighty further states that the hypocrites swear by Allah to the believers to please them, and declares that Allah and His Messenger are worthier of being pleased if they are true believers as they claim.
Are these hypocrites not aware that those who defy and oppose Allah and His Messenger and disobey them will be condemned to Hellfire, to remain in it for ever? That is surely the greatest, ultimate disgrace.
