Overall meaning : Allah Almighty says: Believers, many Jewish rabbis and Christian monks unlawfully take possession of people’s wealth, turn away from the truth and turn people away from it. To those who amass gold and silver and do not pay the set proportion due on them prescribed by Allah, nor spend out of them in the way of Allah, give the news, O Muhammad, of an agonizing punishment, on the day when their treasures will be heated up in the fire of Hell, and their foreheads, sides and backs will be branded with them. They will be sarcastically and mockingly told, “This is what you hoarded up for yourselves. Taste, then, the punishment for what you used to hoard.”
