Overall meaning : We have set forth and explained to mankind in this Qur’an all manner of examples that they need in all their affairs, so that they may reflect and pay heed. It is an Arabic Qur’an with no distortion or contradictions whatsoever, so that they may fear Me by observing what I command and avoiding what I forbid.
Allah sets forth a parable: A man is owned by several masters who are ever at odds among themselves, each one requiring him to do certain things and he is at a total loss, not knowing how to satisfy them all because of their contradictory instructions. The other is exclusively owned by one single master whose orders are clear to him, unlike the case of disputing partners. Can these two be deemed equal? By no means! Nor can those who worship several deities besides Allah be deemed equal to those who worship none but Allah in any way. Praise be to Allah! The fact is that most of them do not know!
You will certainly die, Muhammad, and so will your people; then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will all, mankind, dispute regarding your differences before your Lord, who will then judge between you with absolute justice.
