Overall meaning : On the Day of Resurrection, you will see the faces of those who have invented lies about Allah (by attributing to Him such things as partners, a spouse and offspring) blackened. Is there not in Hell a dwelling for the arrogant unbelievers? Yes, indeed there is! Allah will save from the Fire those who fear Him for doing what He commands and avoiding what He forbids, and will admit them into their place of safety—Paradise. No harm whatsoever will ever touch them, nor will they grieve for whatever they have missed in the life of the world.
Allah alone is the Creator of all things, and He is the Guardian and Disposer of all affairs. The keys of the treasures of the heavens and the earth belong to Him alone. Those who deny His revelations and signs bearing witness to His oneness will surely be the losers.
Say, Muhammad, to the Quraysh idolaters, ‘[After witnessing all the signs testifying to Allah’s absolute oneness and all-encompassing power,] would you still order me to worship other than Allah, you ignorant people?!’
It has been revealed to you, Muhammad, just as it was revealed to the prophets before you, that if you worship other deities besides Allah, all your good deeds will be in vain and will go unrewarded, and you will surely be among the losers. Rather, worship Allah alone and be among the grateful.
