Overall meaning : The true believers are those who believe in Allah and His Messenger, and who, when gathered with the Prophet regarding an important matter, do not leave until they have asked his permission. Those who ask your permission, Prophet, are are those who truly believe in Allah and His Messenger. Therefore, if these believers ask your permission to leave to attend to some business of theirs, grant permission to whomever you wish, as you may deem of benefit; and ask Allah’s forgiveness for them. Allah is All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate
Do not consider the Messenger’s summons to you, believers, the same as your summons to one another, by taking your time to respond to his call when he calls you just as you do among one another. Rather, respond to his call without delay. Nor address him in the manner you address one another. Show him due respect and honour and do not call him by his name. Rather, address him with the words, ‘Prophet of Allah’ and ‘Messenger of Allah’.
Allah certainly knows the hypocrites who sneak away from the Messenger’s gathering, screening themselves behind others. Those who disobey the Messenger’s command should beware lest some affliction or painful punishment befall them.
Surely to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. He is well aware of all your affairs. On the day when all people are brought back to Him, He will inform them of what they have done in this life, and He will repay each one according to his actions. Allah has knowledge of all things, and nothing whatsoever is hidden from Him.
