Overall meaning : Allah Almighty directs the believers to obey Him and His Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and not to disobey them now that they have heard what has been revealed in the Qur’an.
He also enjoins them not to be like the idolaters, who ascribe partners to Allah, who say, 'We hear,’ but do not benefit from what they hear, nor pay heed to it, as though they have not heard anything at all. The worst of all creatures in Allah’s sight, He further states, are the unbelievers who do not benefit from His signs and admonitions: They are deaf to the truth, dumb (they do not speak it) and they do not understand Allah’s admonitions and commands. Had Allah perceived any good in them, He would have surely made them understand them. But even if He had made them understand His revelations and signs, they would still have turned away and obstinately refused to accept them.
