Overall meaning : Allah is extremely gracious to His servants. He provides whomever of them He wills, expanding or restricting sustenance for whomever He pleases as He in His wisdom sees fit for them, and He is the All-Strong, the All-Mighty.
If anyone seeks the reward of the world to come and endeavors earnestly to obtain it, We will surely grant him strength to increase his good deeds and make it easy for him to do so and We will multiply his rewards; and if anyone seeks only this world, We will provide him with the provisions that have been allocated for him, denying him nothing of this whatsoever, but he will have no share of Allah’s reward at all in the hereafter.
Or do these idolaters have gods they associate with Allah, which in the practice of their religion have ordained for them what Allah has not sanctioned?! Had it not been for a decree already issued by Allah, postponing their punishment, He would have hastened their torment. Those who wrong themselves by reason of their unbelief and evil deeds will suffer a painful punishment!
You will see, Muhammad, the wrongdoers on the Day of Resurrection in great terror of Allah’s punishment because of the evil deeds they have done in this world, and it will inevitably descend upon them. As for those who believe and do righteous deeds in this world, they will be in the fair gardens of Paradise. They will have in it whatever they desire with their Lord. That will indeed be the greatest bounty. Such tremendous bliss is the good news that Allah gives His servants who believe in Him and do righteous deeds.
Say to your people, the Quraysh, Muhammad, ‘No reward do I ask of you for my conveying my Lord’s message to you except that you consider the ties of kinship binding us together.’ If any believer does a good deed, We will repay him many times over. Allah is All-Forgiving: He forgives the sins of His servants, All-Appreciative: He accepts their good deeds and multiplies their reward for them manifold times.
Rather, the idolaters say, ‘Muhammad fabricates lies about Allah, claiming to receive revelations from Him when he does not!’ If you had, as they falsely claim, He could have sealed up your heart so that you forget all that you know of the Qur’an, had He so willed. Allah wipes out all falsehood and establishes the truth by His words. Allah is fully aware of what is in people’s hearts and minds, and nothing whatsoever is hidden from Him.
