Overall meaning : The wicked unbelievers will remain for ever in the torment of Hell. It will not be lightened for them, and they will be in utter despair of ever receiving any good in it. We have never wronged them; it was they who have wronged themselves because of their unbelief and acts of disobedience. They will call out to the Keeper of Hell. ‘Malik,’ they will cry, ‘Ask your Lord to put an end to us and thus end our suffering!’ He will reply, ‘You will stay in the punishment for ever. Messengers were sent to you with the truth from your Lord, but most of you abhorred the truth and refused to believe!’
Or have are these idolaters firmly resolved to carry out some evil scheme against the truth and those who follow it? We, too, are firmly resolved to put through Our own plan! Or do they think in their ignorance that We cannot hear their unspoken thoughts and their secret talk? Indeed, We do. Nothing about them is hidden from Us and We will surely take them to task for it! Our messengers are also with them, recording everything they say and do!
