Overall meaning : We will assign anyone who turns away from the Qur’an that the All-Compassionate God has revealed a devil to be his constant companion. Devils do indeed hinder such people from the way leading to Allah, making them think they are rightly guided! When such a person who turns away from the remembrance of his Lord comes before Us on Judgement Day, he will say to his devil companion, ‘I wish you had been as distant from me as the east is from the west. Evil indeed you were for a companion!’ They will be both told, ‘Because of your wrongdoing, sharing the punishment will be of no benefit to you today, nor will it make it any lighter.’
