Overall meaning : The Almighty says: The blind and the sighted are not equal in perceiving things, neither are darkness and light, nor are the cool shade and the sweltering heat of the sun, nor are the living and the dead. Allah can make anyone He wills hear, but you, Muhammad, cannot make the dead who are in their graves hear. You are only a warner.
We have sent you with the truth, Muhammad, to give good news to those who obey you and to warn those who disobey you of punishment; there is no past nation that did not have a messenger to warn it of Allah’s punishment. If the unbelievers among your people disbelieve you, Muhammad, then exercise patience and perseverance; for those before them also disbelieved their messengers who had brought them clear proofs, scriptures and the light-giving Book. But in the end I punished the unbelievers. Terrible indeed was the way I punished and disowned them!
