Overall meaning : Allah Almighty points out these unbelievers’ contradictions and adduces conclusive proof against them, for it is only logical that the sole Creator who conducts all affairs ought to be worshipped alone: If you ask them, ‘Who has created the heavens and the earth?’ they will surely reply, ‘Allah.’ Say to them, ‘Praise, then, be to Allah who has made the truth prevail and established decisive proof against you because of your confession!’ But the greater part of them do not know who rightly deserves all praise due to their ignorance!
Then, mentioning one aspect of His immense power, He says: Everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah alone. Indeed, Allah is self-sufficient, ever praised.
Further, He states that His Words are inexhaustible, drawing a comparison to put before us the meaning of this concept due to our rather limited knowledge: Even if all the trees on earth were pens and the sea were ink, with seven more seas yet to replenish it to write the Words of Allah, all the pens and ink would be used up while Allah’s Words would not in any way be exhausted. Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
