Overall meaning : Allah Almighty says: Each messenger We sent before you, Muhammad, spoke only in the language of his own people to make their religion clear to them; then Allah leads astray from the truth whomsoever He wills and He guides to the truth whomsoever He wills; He is the Almighty, the All-Wise.
We sent Moses to the Children of Israel, supported him with great miraculous signs proving his truthfulness, and We commanded him to call them to the path of truth to be led out of the darkness of unbelief and error into the light of faith and obedience, and to remind them of the days of Allah’s grace and punishment. Surely in this reminder there are signs for everyone who exercises great patience and is greatly thankful to Allah.
Mention to your people, Messenger, the story of Moses when he said to the Children of Israel, ‘Remember the grace and favour of Allah upon you when He rescued you from Pharaoh and his people, who subjected you to the severest torment, killing your baby boys and sparing your baby girls to subject them to slavery and domestic servitude, which was a terrible test from your Lord.’
Moses said to them, ‘Remember when your Lord solemnly declared, “If you are grateful to Me for My blessings, I will certainly bestow more blessings upon you; but if you are ungrateful, My punishment will be severe indeed.”’ Moses added, ‘If you are ungrateful, you and everyone else on earth, then know that Allah is self-sufficient and independent of all His creation, worthy of all praise.’
