Overall meaning : Satan’s assumption about them was proven correct; for they all followed him except for a group of true believers. Satan, however, had no power whatsoever over them; We only allowed him to tempt them, so that We may bring to light, what We already know about them, who truly believed in the life to come and who were in doubt about it. Your Lord, Muhammad, watches over all things and keeps count of their deeds, and he will repay them according to their actions.
Say to the idolaters, Muhammad, ‘Call on those whom you claim to be gods besides Allah to benefit you or protect you from harm. They do not possess even an atom’s weight in the heavens or the earth, nor do these alleged gods have any share in either of them, nor does Allah have any helpers from among them. How can they possibly be considered gods, then?!’
No intercession will be of any benefit with Him on the Day of Judgement except that of those to whom He graciously grants it. At last, when the terror of Judgement Day has left their hearts, they will ask one another, ‘What has your Lord said?’ ‘The Truth,’ they will reply. ‘He is the All-High, the All-Great.’
