Overall meaning : Allah, Exalted be He, says: Those who come on the Day of Resurrection with a good deed (true faith and righteous deeds) will have a great reward with Allah, and they will be secure from the terrors that will happen that day. But those who come on the Day of Resurrection with an evil deed (unbelief and acts of disobedience) will be thrown on their faces into the Fire, and they will be reproachfully told, ‘You are being repaid only according to the deeds you used to do in the life of the world.’
Say, Muhammad, to your people, the Quraysh, ‘Allah has only commanded me to worship Him alone. He is the Lord of this city (Makkah), which He has made a safe sanctuary—everything belongs to Him—and He has commanded me to be of those who surrender themselves to Him and worship Him alone, and to recite the Qur’an and follow its teachings. Therefore, whoever believes in the Qur’an and follows the truth will do so for his own benefit and will reap the reward for doing so; and to whoever disbelieves in the Qur’an and turns away from the truth say, ‘I am only one of those messengers who warn against Allah’s punishment and wrath.’
And say, Muhammad, ‘All praise is due to Allah. He will show you in this world the signs of His punishment and the proofs of His oneness and His power, and you will recognise them; and your Lord is not unaware of what you do
