Overall meaning : Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, states that He gave Moses, peace be upon him, miracles that attested to his truthfulness, but they only made Pharaoh and his followers even more stubborn in their arrogance and disbelief: We gave Moses nine manifest miracles proving that he was a true prophet. Ask, then, Muhammad, the Jews to tell you what happened when Moses brought their ancestors his clear miracles. Pharaoh, out of sheer stubbornness, said to him, ‘Moses, I can see that you are bewitched. You are talking irrationally and you do not realise the meaning of what you are saying.’
‘You know for certain,’ Moses replied, ‘that none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth has sent down these nine miracles as clear signs that prove His oneness and immense power. Indeed, Pharaoh, I can see that you are defeated and doomed to perish.’
So Pharaoh resolved to drive the Children of Israel out of the land of Egypt, but We drowned him and his soldiers, all together. Then We said to the Children of Israel, after the destruction of Pharaoh and his army: Dwell now securely in the land and, when the Day of Resurrection comes, We will bring all of you forth from your graves, both you and them, to the plains of Judgement Day and repay you according to your deeds.
