Overall meaning : Addressing those who worship idols besides Him, Allah, Exalted be He, says: Those you worship besides Allah are His creatures, just like you. Call on them, then, and let them answer your prayers if your claim that they are deserving of worship is true.
Do they have feet to walk with? Do they have hands to hold whatever they wish with? Do they have eyes to see with? Or do they have ears to hear with? Say, to them, Muhammad, 'Call on your false gods, which you claim are gods besides Allah; then scheme against me to do me harm without delay and grant me no respite. My Protector, who will protect and support me, is Allah who has sent down the Qur’an, and He takes into His protection the righteous.’ Also say to them, 'Those you worship and call upon besides Allah cannot help you, nor can they help themselves against those who intend to harm them. If you call them to the truth, they will not hear you.’ You see these carved idols, Muhammad, staring you in the face with the engraved eyes, but they cannot really see.
