Overall meaning : Numerous are the angels in the heavens, yet their intercession will be of no benefit whatsoever unless Allah gives permission to whomever of them He wills and is well pleased with those for whom intercession will be sought with Him.
Those who do not believe in the life to come give Allah’s Angels female names and falsely claim that they are His daughters! Yet of this the idolaters have no knowledge whatsoever. By making such an unfounded claim, they follow nothing other than pure conjecture. Conjecture is of no benefit at all and is no substitute for the truth!
Therefore, shun those who turn away from the Qur’an, Muhammad, and who seek only the life of this world. Such is the full extent of their knowledge. Surely your Lord, Muhammad, knows very well those who stray from His path, and He knows very well those who have been guided to the truth.
To Allah alone belongs the kingdom of all that is in the heavens and the earth, so that He may repay those who do evil according to their unbelief and wicked actions and reward those who do good with the best reward: They are those who avoid the major sins and shameful deeds even if they may sometimes stumble into the minor sins without persisting in doing them, for these are forgivable.
Your Lord’s forgiveness, Muhammad, is vast indeed: He forgives His servants’ whenever they sincerely turn to Him and repent. He is best aware of you, mankind, when He created your father, Adam, from the dust of the earth and when you were still in your mothers’ wombs. Do not, then, assert your own goodness and piety, for Allah alone knows very well those who are truly God-fearing!
