Overall meaning : Woe betide every untruthful, sinful unbeliever who hears Allah’s revelations being recited to him, and yet arrogantly persists in his unbelief, as though he did not hear them! Hence, give him the good news of a painful punishment. And when he learns something of Our revelations, he makes a mockery of them! Those who do so will suffer a humiliating punishment. Before them lies Hell. Neither what they have gained in this worldly life, nor the alleged gods they worship besides Allah will protect them from Allah’s punishment, and they will suffer a terrible torment.
This Qur’an is true guidance for mankind, and those who disbelieve the Qur’an’s verses revealed by their Lord will suffer the worst form of agonizing punishment.
