Overall meaning : Allah, Exalted be He, responds to those who object to the fact that Allah’s Messenger is a human being who also marries women, saying: We have sent human messengers before this messenger, and We blessed them with wives and offspring. Why, then, do you object to him being a human messenger and gets married although they themselves were human and had wives and offspring? Then He responds to the unbelievers who asked the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to produce a physical miracle, saying that it is not for any messenger to bring forth a miracle testifying to his truthfulness without Allah’s permission. For every appointed term and every matter that Allah decrees there is a book in which it is recorded and a set time in which it will take place, that can neither be delayed nor advanced. Allah effaces and retains whatever matter He has decreed; that is, in the scrolls that are with the angels, and He has the Master Book—the Preserved Tablet (Book of Decrees).
Allah then says to His Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: Whether We show you, during your lifetime, part of the punishment with which We have threatened the idolaters for their unbelief, or cause you to die even before witnessing it, in either case your duty is only to convey the message, and it is for Us to judge them and repay them according to their deeds.
