Overall meaning : It is the hypocrites who say, ‘Do not spend anything on the Companions of Allah’s Messenger from among the poor Emigrants so that they may desert him.’ However, the treasures of the heavens and the earth belong to Allah alone, but the hypocrites do not know that. They say, ‘When we return to Madeenah from Banu Al-Mustaliq Expedition, the more honourable will surely drive out the meaner from it.’ They are totally wrong, for all honour belongs to Allah, His Messenger and the true believers, but the hypocrites do not know that, thinking that honour belongs to them!
